    Description

Hello,  For your interest is this Georgian Brass Rim lock.  This and other door hardware I acquired came from the basement of a Georgian Estate in Ridgefield, Ct. I believe it dates from the early to mid 1800’s based on the home it came from, lock configuration, molded edge and interior details. The lock is 5” wide x 7 1/4” long.  The brass case and keeper are hand cast and the interior works are iron.  The keeper may not be original because the detail is slightly off but works for the piece. The interior finish is mostly all business with some beveling along the key plate and nice detail on the plate where the handle rod enters. I don’t have a key so can’t say positively that the lock works but the other parts move smoothly so would think the lock would work too.  The case shows some wear by the screw holes but overall it’s in nice, serviceable antique condition.  One of the handles is in good condition the other is banged in so would need replacement. The original handle rod is a little short so would probably need to be replaced to accommodate a new handle.  Ball & Ball in Eaton, PA can supply period correct handles if needed.
